Modern Girl Tag Tutorial

This is a long tag tutorial and you are going to spend some time on it (fair warning, lol).
However, you will need some sort of experience using Paint Shop Pro.

Here’s the tag we’ll be making:

Modern Girl tag by Mod Girl

For this tag challenge you’ll need to use parts of my Modern Girl Mega tag kit HERE.

We’ll be using the following elements from this kit:

stk_modern-girl_pp10.jpg (background paper)
stk_modern-girl_pp4.jpg (background paper)
stk_modern-girl_pp19.jpg (background paper)
stk_modern-girl_pp3.jpg (background paper)
stk_modern-girl_pp21.jpg (background paper)
stk_modern-girl_ep2.png (frame)

You’ll also need:

A square shaped mask. FYI – I made this tag years ago and don’t remember the mask I used for this particular tag.
But, below is one that will work for this tag tutorial. Remember to right-click and save it to your masks folder in psp.

jpg mask

Besides the mask, you’ll also need a psp tube or a png transparent image of a girl, woman or lady.
The PTU tube I used in this tag was from CDO (Creative Design Outlet) and the artist is Cartoon Pink.
FYI – the CDO site is no longer selling tubes and has also closed.
However; IF you have this same tube, you can use it for this tag tutorial.
OR you can find some useful (transparent) women themed images online by doing a search.
And if you can’t find anything useful to use,
I have added a few links at the bottom of this page for images that you might find useful.

Now, let’s get started!

Open the mega tag kit called Modern Girl and open the background image;
“stk_modern-girl_pp10.jpg”.
Save and close the background and paste to a new image.
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load mask from disk.
This will be the mask that you just downloaded (located above).
Merge Group.
Resize this layer to 650 x 650 pixels.

Open the frame.
Copy, close and paste into new layer.
Select all, float.
Effects, 3d effects.
Drop shadow vertical & horizontal = 2, opacity = 35, blur = 5.00, color = #000000
(screen shot below)

Drop Shadow

Create a new layer and move it down into the second position.
Open the paper “stk_modern-girl_pp4.jpg” and resize to 350 x 350 pixels.
Copy and close.
Paste into the layer you just created.
Move the background paper so it fits under the right hand bottom area in the frame.
(screen shot below)

Frame Bottom Right

Selection tool, outline the area like the screen shot below and invert selection.
Hit delete.

Frame Bottom Right Select

Do this for the rest of the papers the same way so they fit into the area.
You will need to resize the others to 50% percent
(except for the paper “stk_modern-girl_pp21.jpg”)
before pasting them into the new layers.
After you have positioned all the papers under the frame area,
do the same as before and invert each one and then hit delete.

For this next part you will need the transparent image of the girl.
Remember, if you don’t have an image to use, you can find some in the links below.

The image you use will need to be resized 2 times.
One small and one larger than the other.
We will work with the large image first.
Open the image and enlarge it so the face will fit inside the largest part of the frame.
Depending on the image, you might need to enlarge it by 150 percent.
Image, Mirror. This will make the image flip to the other direction.

Create a new later and paste the enlarged image into the new layer.
Move the layer so that it fits in the largest area of the frame.
(screen shot below)

Image Inside Frame

Now, just like you did with the papers,
do the same with the image and invert the selection and hit delete and then select none.
The girl should be inside the frame now.
Select all, float.
Create a new layer and flood fill the area with a light color.
Preferably white (#FFFFFF)
Move the layer down below the girl.
Right click on the layer and select Properties.
Set the opacity to 65%.
Select all, float. Create a drop shadow.
Effects, 3d effects.
Drop shadow vertical & horizontal = 8, opacity = 35, blur = 15.00, color = #000000
Select none.

The second image is next.

Open the image (the same one as before).
Select all and copy. Close image. Paste as new layer.
Move layer to top. Select all and float.
Move image so it sits in the front of the left side of the frame.
Add a drop shadow as before with the same settings you used for the other image.
Select none.
If there is any part of the body below the frame, select that area and hit delete.
Merge all layers.
Save as a jpg or transparent png image.
You can now add your text to your tag.
You’re done!

Now, here are some links to some images that you can use for this tag tutorial:

I also have an online group where members can share psp tubes.
And, I have already added quite a few tubes of women that would work for this tutorial.
If interested, you can visit and join the group HERE.

Working On a NEW Tag Tutorial

Okay, so I’ve been working on a new tag tutorial this past weekend. It was a chore to do because there were so many steps involved to this tag tut and a lot that had to be duplicated over and over again. And, it’s much longer than any of the tag tutorials I have done so far so I hope you will be able to keep up. And if you do this tag tutorial PLEASE let me know how it worked out for you. You can send me a screen shot of your tag that you were able to finish. Send it to the email located at the top right hand corner of this page (click on the little envelope icon).

Anyway, I will be posting the new tag tutorial in the next post. I didn’t want to add it to this one since it’s so long and you’re going to have to do some scrolling to keep up, lol. Thanks for stopping by and hugs, Mod Girl.

Frame Tag Tutorial

This is a pretty simple tag tutorial and should be easy to follow.
However; you’ll need some experience using Paint Shop Pro.

Here’s the sort of tag we’ll be making:

For this tag challenge you’ll need the following:

1. a flower photo
2. a rectangle shaped mask
3. a background image that matches the color of your flower
(you’ll need this to create your frame)

Now let’s get started:

Open PaintShop Pro.
Create a new layer that measures 800 x 800 in pixels.
Open your flower photo.
Resize to 600 (width) in pixels.
Copy and close photo.
Paste as new layer.
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask From Disk (screen shot below)

Click the Load button after you’ve found your mask to use.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible.
Disable this layer.
Move the bottom layer to top.

How to make the frame:

Open background image and resize to 500 pixels in width.
Image, Canvas Size and resize to 500 width x 325 height in pixels.
Copy and close background image.
Paste into top layer.
Selections, Select All and Invert Selection.
Selections, Modify and Contract by 8 pixels.
Hit Delete.
Duplicate layer twice which will give you 3 layers.

Go to the very bottom frame layer.
Image, Rotate, Free Rotate (Direction) LEFT and (Degrees) 5.00 (screen shot below).
Selections, Select All, Float.

Effects, 3d effects, and add a drop shadow; color #000000 (screen shot below).

Move Up 1 layer to the next frame.
Image, Rotate, Free Rotate (Direction) RIGHT and (Degrees) 5.00.

Selections, Select All, Float.
Effects, 3d effects, and add a drop shadow; color #000000 (screen shot above).

Move Up 1 layer to top frame.
Selections, Select All, Float.
Effects, 3d effects, and add a drop shadow; color #000000 (screen shot above).
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible.

You should now have only 2 layers with the bottom layer still disabled.
Un-disable the bottom layer so all layers are showing.
Got to top layer and move the frame around so it fits nicely above your flower photo.
When you’ve got everything the way you like,
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible.

Using your Magic Wand, click anywhere on the blank space outside of the frame (screen shot below):

Image, invert selection, crop to selection.
Save your tag as a transparent png so you can open it later to add some text to it.
You’re done!

Welcome!

Hi and thanks for stopping by! This site was created so I could share the tag tutorials that I have already created and any new tag tutorials that I might decide to create later. Here’s a few things you may want to know about my tag tutorials; They are all created using Paint Shop Pro. If you use the Paint Shop Pro graphics program (whatever version) then you should have no problem following my tag tutorials.

Now, if you use Photo Shop then you may also be able to use my tag tutorials by looking for any tools that might be the same as the other graphic program and possibly substituting one for the other. Like for example layer masks. Each graphic program uses layer masks but in a different way. Just look for that tool in Photo Shop and you should be good to go. Of course not all the tools are labeled the same, so you might need to look at your tools in Photo Shop to see what you can substitute for the same tool that is used in Paint Shop Pro.

I sure hope that makes sense, lol. I don’t always explain things very well, but I do try to do my best whenever possible. Anyway, thanks for the visit and hugs, Mod Girl.

Spring Blush Tag Tutorial

This is a pretty simple tag tutorial and should be easy to follow.
However, you’ll need some experience using Paint Shop Pro.

Here’s the tag we’ll be making:

For this tag challenge you’ll need to use parts of my Spring Blush kit HERE.

We’ll be using the following elements from this kit:

stk_spring-blush_ep11.png (flower)

stk_spring-blush_ep23.png (foliage)
stk_spring-blush_ep36.png (foliage)
stk_spring-blush_ep37.png (pink denim pocket)

You’ll also need a photo (resized to fit inside frame).
The font I used can be downloaded from HERE.

Optional:

I also added 2 pieces of Baby’s Breath foliage.
Adding the Baby’s Breath was a last minute decision but you don’t need it for this tutorial.
However, if you find some you might want to use it.
(FYI – I’ve looked for the Baby’s Breath on my computer but I can’t find it.)

Now let’s get started:

Select none.
Create a new layer and move to bottom.
Open photo.
Copy and save as new image.
Resize photo to around 510 pixels in width.
Select all and copy.
Close image.
Paste into layer.
Move photo around until it lines up under the frame perfectly.
Create a new layer and move to top.
Open the pink denim pocket (tk_spring-blush_ep37.png).
Resize pocket to 50% in size.
Copy and close.
Paste pocket onto top layer.
Move pocket around so it sits nicely onto the right side of the frame.
Effects, 3d effects, and add a drop shadow; color #000000 (same as above screen shot).
Select none.

Create a new layer and move it below the pocket.
Open foliage element from the tagger kit and resize to 50
percent before adding to the layer.
Select all and copy.
Paste into layer.
Move foliage pieces around until you get them how you want them.
Effects, 3d effects, and add a drop shadow; color #000000 (same as above screen shot).
Select none.

Repeat this process for each piece of foliage.
Create a new layer and move it to top.
Open your flower and resize (35 percent for larger flower).
Select all and copy.
Paste into layer.
Move around flower until you have it where you want it.
Effects, 3d effects, and add a drop shadow; color #000000 (same as above screen shot).
Select none.

Open the same flower and resize (30 percent for smaller flower).
Select all and copy.
Paste into layer.
Move around flower until you have it where you want it.
Effects, 3d effects, and add a drop shadow; color #000000 (same as above screen shot).
Select none.

After you’ve got the tag the way you want it, MERGE down all layers.
Using your Magic Wand, click anywhere on the blank space outside of the frame (screen shot below):

Image, crop to selection.
From here, you can add any text you want to your tag.
Save your tag.
You’re done!
